Welcome to the world famous Blue Pub in Methven, Mt Hutt Village - located right in the centre of town!  The pub to be after a hard day in the mountains enjoying all the different aspects of this beautiful amazing space.

Dine with us this winter and there will be no charge for kids 10 years & under (as at 1st June 2012) when ordering from the Kid's Menu and when accompanied by a family member dining from the regular menu. Earthquake Update - Please note that the Methven region has not been affected by the recent earthquakes that have struck the Christchurch region. The first earthquake in September 2010 centred near Darfield did cause damage to our beautiful building but we have completed all repairs required, added more steel to support our top story and reopened our upstairs accommodation.  All our existing rooms have had a facelift and we now have a new premium room with the best views in the pub. After a big day tramping, mountain biking, rafting, fishing, skiing, snowboarding or any of the wonderful outdoor pursuits we have on offer; there is nothing better than settling down on the verandah enjoying a cold beer with some friends and reflecting on the day's adventure.

Once you have recharged the mind, the body will need to be charged up so try our excellent food, either in the Cafe, outside on the verandah or just pull up a stool at the bar and enjoy the friendly atmosphere. Our menu has some great favourites available as well as a delicious blackboard menu with regularly changing specials.  While trying Chef's tasty meals, our friendly staff can advise you on a wine from our extensive wine list. We have a great balance of New Zealand white wines (the best in the world!) with some new Kiwi reds to help complement the fantastic Australian reds available. There is sure to be something for you...
To top off the experience, our dessert menu is there for the begging and is bound to meet even the most discriminating sweet tooth needs.  Just try to resist our espresso meringues, summer berry sponge or homemade cheesecake. Then finish off with your choice from our full selection of great coffees, liqueurs and ports, or simply walk through to the pub to enjoy the friendly atmosphere and entertainment available for the rest of the evening.

We also offer facilities for functions and conferences in Samuels Summit Bar. With the capacity to seat up to 100 people, it's a great choice for your next occasion. We can provide a wide range of different menus for functions - from nibbles and savouries, right through to buffets and plated meals.

The Blue likes to think that it's one of Canterbury's major live venues for music and many renowned artists have played here. We offer the main bar as a venue and also Samuels Bar for the bigger touring bands.
